Davis Design Group

iSEAS: putting the technology to work

Among its first projects, Davis Design Group is modeling Indiana and its education system and analyzing the factors that influence the choices of students following high school graduation. Partners in the Indiana SEAS project want more students to graduate from high school and choose post-secondary education that prepares them for their highest level of skilled work; they want this for all students, across income and demographic groups. By predicting how students will be impacted by policy changes, school and family environments, and economics, DDG will assist iSEAS partners in their goal to overcome barriers to educational achievement.

Below are diagrams from the iSEAS project. Click on an image to view a larger version.

Slide 1

We are currently assembling data about Indiana's people, infrastructure, economics, and results onto a common platform. Here are two of our initial data maps.

We are also defining the specific influence model for Indiana students. As you might expect, the weights of influences vary at each grade level. Using the data and the model, we will identify factors that impact student achievement and then test strategies for making improvements.
